people may say that doom was the first shooter in their life, but I'll always have Wolfenstein as mine. I can remember those saturday mornings I'd sit with the old Windows 95 box and barely managing to get through some of the floors and managing to scare myself whenever a machine-gunner jumped out. The look on my face when some poor soul told me I could just ILM my problems away (I still prefer it to the less civilized IDDQD and IDKFA). I still think that game is on the 95 in the corner of my little brother's room, but I doubt anyone has looked in ages.
I still have the original files from the machine, copied from it to a floppy to a newer machine, and then from one drive to another, and now to my current computer. The saddest thing though is that all the machines since the 95 haven't had a proper sound blaster, so I was denied sound.
Recently, I found a wonderful 3rd party app that would use the .WL6's from the original game and play through windows. It was magical. I played for maybe 6 solid hours that day. The amazing "music" was still there, and so were the guards. I was happier than that kid in the FLGS who opens the 800$ cases of minis "accidentally".
anyway, that's just my rant on Wolf3D.
don't even get me started on how I feel about old pokemon games, and how it differs from the garbage now....
thanks for reading, this has been a bout of nostalgia. I hope you are all better for it

I like Warhammer. I like chaotic beings. I like dark gods. I like Hello Kitty.
